Terms of Use

These terms apply to everyone who visits The Online Teacher Directory. The Directory lists teachers; it does not teach, take bookings or take payment for lessons.
1. Who we are
The Online Teacher Directory (theonlineteacherdirectory.com) is run by eTEFL Online Teacher Training OÜ, registered in Estonia under registry code 17010304, at Lõõtsa tn 5 // Sepapaja tn 4, 11415 Tallinn, Estonia. Contact: hello@theonlineteacherdirectory.com.
By using the site you agree to these terms. Teachers who list with us also agree to the Teacher Terms.
2. What the Directory does
The Directory is a free place to find online English teachers. You can browse and filter listings without an account.
When you choose a teacher, the booking button takes you to that teacher’s own calendar. From there, everything is between you and the teacher: the booking, the price, payment, the lessons, cancellations and refunds.
Some listings also have a contact form or a free trial lesson button. A message you send through the form goes to that teacher, who replies to you by email. A trial lesson is booked on the teacher’s calendar in the same way as any other lesson.
Teachers are independent. They are not our employees or agents, and we are not a party to any agreement you make with them.
3. What “Certificate Verified” means
The Certificate Verified badge means we have checked that the teacher holds the teaching certificate named on the listing, from the issuer named, and that the certificate is on our accepted list.
The badge does not mean we have:
- watched the teacher teach or assessed the quality of their lessons;
- checked the teacher’s identity documents, references or background;
- carried out any criminal record or child safeguarding check.
Listings without the badge have not had their certificate checked by us.
If you are booking lessons for a child, please make your own checks and stay involved in the lessons.
4. Listings and paid placement
Teachers write their own listings and set their own rates. We review every listing before it goes live, but we cannot promise that every detail is accurate or up to date. Confirm the price and availability with the teacher before you book.
Featured listings are paid for. Teachers pay us a subscription for a Featured listing, and Featured listings appear first in search results. Among the listings that match your search, the order is:
- Featured listings
- Certificate Verified listings
- Other listings
No teacher can pay for the Certificate Verified badge without passing the check.
5. Booking with a teacher
We do not take bookings or payments for lessons, and we cannot change, cancel or refund a lesson. Raise any problem with a lesson with the teacher first.
The teacher’s calendar tool is run by another company under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Using the site fairly
You may use the Directory to find a teacher for yourself or someone you are responsible for. You must not:
- copy or collect listings in bulk, by hand or with automated tools;
- use teachers’ details or contact forms to send them advertising or to recruit them for another service;
- pretend to be a student in order to mislead or harass a teacher;
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.
We may block access for anyone who does.
7. Reporting a listing
If you believe a listing is false, unlawful or infringes your rights, or you have a serious concern about a teacher’s conduct, email hello@theonlineteacherdirectory.com. Include the address of the listing and what is wrong with it.
A person reviews every report. We may edit, hide or remove the listing, and we tell you and the teacher what we decided and why. You can write to us in English.
8. Who owns what
The site’s design, text, logo and the Certificate Verified badge belong to us. Each teacher’s photo, video and description belong to that teacher. You may not reuse any of it without the owner’s permission.
9. Links and videos
The site links to teachers’ calendars and plays videos hosted by YouTube and Vimeo. We do not control those services and are not responsible for them.
10. Our liability
The Directory is free to use and provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.
We are not responsible for lessons, for what a teacher does or fails to do, or for any loss from an agreement between you and a teacher.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for deliberate wrongdoing or gross negligence, or any liability the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away rights the law of your country gives you.
11. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice explain what data we collect and the choices you have.
12. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the version in force is the one on the site when you use it.
These terms are governed by Estonian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of that country’s mandatory consumer laws and may bring a claim in its courts.
